Hi (Kaya),

I was lucky to have a good upbringing in Perth, Western Australia, and even luckier to be able to follow many and varied paths throughout my life. I've studied a lot (mostly science and education) and worked in a range of environments, sectors and countries.

I've always had a fascination for the natural world, mostly biology and physics, as well as the extraordinary variety of human ideas and capabilities. I'm privileged to live in such a peaceful and clean country even though we have a shameful history of mal-treating traditional land owners, to whom I express my gratitude for granting me use of their 'boodja' (my local nation's word for 'land').

My experience ranges from residential construction to astrophysics and much in between. I've taught in high schools, studied at PhD level, hosted skywatching evenings, and owned small businesses in several industries. I enjoy genealogy, SCUBA diving, swimming, cycling and rocketry.

My primary motivation for developing Scubayorp Outreach is to share the knowledge I've gained doing four science degrees, with the general population - mums, dads, school kids, grand parents, clubs, individuals - pretty much anybody who wants to understand more about the extraordinary world we inhabit.

I also want to give back to the community by supporting the elderly and adolescents - two groups that I see needing care, in a sometimes confusing world.
